Any dog that is off lead in the New Forest needs to be under good control, not only for its own safety, but also so that they do not disturb or injure the livestock and wildlife that we all love to see, and that makes the New Forest such a special place to visit. Our dogs must be reliable off lead, in much more challenging circumstances than the average pet dog, that walks in a park, would meet.

Good Manners For New Forest Dogs Class

Hall-based classes have a role in teaching our dogs basic skills, but they are not very realistic compared with the world in which our dogs walk. This course is based in an equestrian centre which in itself is more realistic compared to everyday life. The space available also allows us to use a different range of exercises and to train with other moving around more realistically than in a hall. This is much more what you might meet during a normal walk. All the normal basic skills that you would expect to find in any good quality dog training class are still here, but there is more.

This course is also ideal for very shy dogs who get distressed or panic if others get too close. They can learn to cope with other dogs near them at their own pace without being upset or frightened.
