This course offers follow-on training for dogs that have completed the young puppy class, and also welcomes older puppies and rescue dogs. The exercises are designed to develop a polite, well-behaved companion dog, and also to help you to understand your dog, particularly how it learns and how to teach it what you want. The course covers: TRAINING ¨ Walking on a loose lead ¨ Coming when called ¨ Sit, and practical applications such as being polite around doors and kerbs ¨ Down ¨ Stay ¨ Give ¨ Leave ¨ Tricks—big dogs need cute behaviours and trick training is an ideal tool to teach key training skills to the handler MENTAL DEVELOPMENT ¨ People and other dogs - please be polite to them ¨ How dogs learn – and what your dog looks like when it is learning ¨ Leadership – you or your dog? ¨ Fitting in with the family ¨ How to solve problems in training HUSBANDRY ¨ Handling, vet examination, and grooming ¨ Building the right relationship ¨ Grabbing their collar (useful – believe me!)
